this album contains the very first song i've listened that of anathema: a dying wish. thus, it has a unique part in my heart..
i'm don't even need to write about other marvellous songs...

"Whenever death may surprise us, let it be welcome if our battle cry has reached even one receptive ear and another hand reaches out to take up our arms."

I've rambled on a bit about 'Eternity' since finding this wondeful site! So, 'The Silent Enigma' then?

I tread carefully into this album like I do with 'Eternity' and 'Judgement', only listening when I know I am in the right frame of mind. I love the heavy guitars on this album, which still always portray great emotional depth. The song 'Alone' is beautiful, it makes me feel as though my soul is flying when the swirly church organ bit plays - this must be played at my funeral! And 'The Silent Enigma' itself - where did that come from, the riff is so beautiful at the end?

Like 'Eternity' this album can take me down and still let me want to live, unlike 'Alternative 4' which scares me really.

If I listen to this album all day... I'm sure I won't wake up alive the next morning..

Did you wake with a sigh...and not a smile? Did you?

Definitely my all time favourite Anathema album ... SUNSET OF AGE is my fav Anathema song!!!!

10/10

Only thing I dislike, is voice. I think that Darren would sing this stuff better ... anyway, Vinny's clear vocals, starting with Eternity are the best ones ...

Maybe it is caused of my age, but I think that emotions in the old stuff are more true and accesible. I think that Enigma is special album, while new stuff is pretty decent, but not that strong ...

sorry for my bad English and for most of you probably strange opinion ... smile

One of the best albums Anathema made.. I also think Darren would sing this stuff better. He has more melanholic voice then Vinny and that is the voice that this album needed.

To me this is their best album, together with Judgement. However, Judgement has very many great songs, and TSE only a few - in my view that is. And those are as mentioned; The Silent Enigma, A Dying Wish, Alone, and last but not least Sunset of the Age. This one is 100 % doom metal to me! I think Vincent has a touch of despair in his voice which suits the album perfectly. On Eternity, on the other hand, his vocals pretty much sucks.

"...Asleep is the rose, in tired innocence dreaming time away..."

Supernatural album, i'd never think humanity can make an album such as this one... changed my whole life.
When Vinnie cries "Help me" on Shroud of Frost, i feel restless and wish to run away.
Also the song Silent Enigma is an epic, i think.

Wasted moments won't return...

We realize the design is a little messy in Internet Explorer, but it will change only when new version of Anathemaniacs appears. For now you can switch to one of other web browsers like Mozilla Firefox or Opera (by the way, they both are much better solutions than IE).
