Just a remark.
/// anathema will release 3 new songs, on i-tunes in april to coincide with their tour supporting finish goth rockers HIM ///

that have just shoked me. Anathema _supporting_ baby-"goth"-"rockers".
It`s clear that it`s all about money, it`s ok... Anathema is a truly independent band, but...
it`s bad sign.
What do You think ?

why? why is it bad sign? why does it make anathema less independent?  they simply show themselvers to bigger publicity. that's all. they'll never play like Him, that's obvious, so what's the problem (for Him haters)? i simply can't understand why so many people moaning about anathema' gigs with Him.

Heeeey, I used to like HIM. And I still do (some of their old stuff) It's a little strange ... the two bands play completely different type of music .. but I don't see what's the problem?
Anathema won't comersialize. I'm sure about that.

the reason so many people moan about anathema's gigs with Him is because Him are what one could remark as: completely oposite music ideology in comparison with anathema. I quite agree myself, i hate Him. Their pop-like-music-trying-to-sound-like-"love"-metal realy puts me off. So many dont like the fact the anathema support Him. But the fact is, that whatever band you are supporting, it surely does not change your music identity! Anathema found a chance to play some gigs with a large audience, so they did it! I realy think they didnt care less weather they supported Him or whoever. They just seized the opportunity!

i used to like HIM either like Angelic..and they are coming to Turkey for one of summer festivals..and if Anathema and HIM would be play in Turkey's festival Anathema would be headliner by the pressure of the fans or if money is heavy and of course HIM's popular sound, Anathema's fans destroy the festival i suppose...

cause -maybe just a little bit- but this is a problem in my opinion...at least for the pride of band members and fans...

I imagine that quite a lot of the audience will go to see Anathema rather than HIM smile I know a lot of my friends (those who like Anathema of course) are considering it.

I wonder how HIM fans will recieve Anathema? I wonder if they'll appreciate the emotional quality of the music or whether they'll say it's "too depressing" or something like that? They can't argue that Anathema aren't heavy enough, considering they're going to go and see HIM!

I don't think it's a bad sign... it's good money for the band.

Everyone will eventually leave you.

Hate to make my first post here a tad grumbly but I have to disagree with what's been said here. The two bands do not have entirely different music. Granted Anathemas early releases are far heavier but the more recent stuff is far more mainstream accesable. I doubt they'd have played alongside a band they didn't like either and having worked with HIM for years myself and met Lenny and Danny on the recent tour with HIM I don't think they dislike the band members of HIM at all.
I also believe many of the HIM fans were thoroughly impressed with Anathema on this tour and it's heightened their profile in the UK a great deal. They deserve to do very well and I really hope they do. They're some of the nicest guys I've had the pleasure of meeting.

P.

well, the fact that newer anathema songs are more catchy doesn't make them similar to Him, does it? i can see very few similarities. but obviously it's not the reason to dislike HIM! perosnally i don't listen to it much, but have nothing against it (and do like "razoblade romance"). i won't be surprised if they play HIM in the future, though I think better band to support would be Coldplay. btw, i guess most people don't like HIM simply because of their commercial success.

I wasn't implying their music was the same. I actually consider Anathema the better musicians of the two bands (shush, don't tell the guys!) I just fail to see why some consider them so musically different that they shouldn't play with HIM. And yes, I agree that there are those that will be against HIM as a band simply because they have been successful. Which is daft. What will they do when Anathema finally get the attention they deserve?!

I like HIM, but I was a little bit shocked!
I thought that it's impossible for Anathema to play with HIM.
I hope it will be something Tremendous.

i had the unique experience of being in one of these concerts last year in brixton.
i think we were around 30 ppl who knew anathema or anyway went for anathema there and the rest were 15-16 year-olds fans of HIM.
not to mention the ticket was well expensive something that surely discouraged Anathema fans from coming..
Unfortunately HIM fans were making 'rude gestures' when Anathema was playing clearly unable to understand the depth of what they were seeing in front of them. Anathema played fantastic and older fans that were around me were asking me who that band was(i was the only one with an Anathema t-shirt:P) beacause they really liked them.
i think it was good on one hand that Anathema was exposed tyo a bigger audience but i prefer them headliners or when they supported Paradise lost.

i hope that the new anathema sound will be even more atmospheric as i like to call it and more solid i would say..they can write and sing about anytying they want..they are artists and their music is their art..they will sing about their lives and no one call live a whole life of misery..they would have killed themselves by now:P

i believe though that melancholy and grief are an art by their own so please Anathema gives something to live for, something to sing for, anything to die for..

thanks for making me laugh dude, I really feel like shit and you made me laugh with this joke. Maybe you are a sign.

Anyway if people dis HIM too much then they have problems accepting themselves. HIM are rock and they have goth elements and also heavy metal elements. Of course they are the complete opposite of anathema, but none can deny their talent.

i respect HIM and any other rock/metal band because they have their uniqueness and style and they are artists as well after all playing their music through there experiences:)
in my post i was just referring to the lack of supporting of HIM fans towards Anathema and the shallow way they apperently see and listen to music.
whilst Anathema attracts a wide variety of metal and rock fans as well as other music-loving ppl more pop bands have a fan base that's entirely different to their musci tastes.
didn't mean to insult HIM or any other band, just expressed my opinion that i base on the many Anathema gigs i've been to where i actually saw ppl crying laughing and expressing themselves in a very different way thatn any other concerts i've been to.
this shows the uniqueness of Anathema's music and makes me a proud Anathemaniac;)

I take your point, and I don't think that fans make a band. If someone cannot understand the meaning of the songs from Anathema ,then at least they are happy.  Immaturity means they had a very happy life and that they are stupid. At least that's what I think. Some people never grow up . I did not mean to offend you either just express my humble opinion.

We realize the design is a little messy in Internet Explorer, but it will change only when new version of Anathemaniacs appears. For now you can switch to one of other web browsers like Mozilla Firefox or Opera (by the way, they both are much better solutions than IE).
