Danny Cavanagh - Solo Acoustic
Subaudition as supporting band
at Semifinal, Helsinki 26.10.2006
Subaudition played about six songs, started with Raindrops, which was my favourite. Their songs are really beautiful, but performing them live could have more feeling in it. Applauds were well deserved though.
Setlist:
How to Disappear Completely (Radiohead)
Masters of War (Bob Dylan)
Fragile Dreams
Forgotten Hopes/ Destiny is Dead
Lost Control
Angelica
Inner Silence
Are You There?
Hope
Pyramid Song (Radiohead)
Temporary Peace
Electricity
Enjoy the Silence
Flying
One Last Goodbye
Working Class Hero (John Lennon)
Wasted Years (Iron Maiden)
No one is Free
Legions (Antimatter)
One Day
The show was good, people could see Danny enjoyed playing in Helsinki. He said that the place had always been good and he had enjoyed playing there. Gig lasted nearly two hours (to be more exact 1h 45min).
Setlist was quite different from the one few months ago at the same place. Especially cover songs were totally diffent this time. I was happy about it.
Then there were Anathema songs, good choices, I love Lost Control and Are You There?.
Followed by the best live version of Hope I've ever heard. I've never been a big fan of that song, but at this gig it was great, everything worked so well technically too.
Electricity and Enjoy the Silence were beautiful.
As to the setlist, all my wishes were fulfilled; No one is Free, some heavy metal covers (Iron Maiden) and something from Antimatter. Legions is a great song (thank you Mick Moss for it!) and Danny's voice fits so well in it.
At this gig some songs were the best live versions I've ever heard. One Last Goodbye was also at it's best! Danny himself said that it must have been his best performance of it yet.
One Day was the last song and Danny said he wasn't sure if it's going to be on their new album, he has to listen to what others have to say about it. I guess that's what it's about being in a band. My personal opinion of it is, that it is a good song indeed, but works best by Danny doing it solo. I've heard it live by Anathema and it wasn't quite that good with the whole band.
This gig was altogether better than the one in August, which also was a GOOD one.
So thank you, once again.
