'A Simple Mistake'

Warm summer greetings to all...

Here we present the second of our free downloads: 'a simple mistake'

This song is still a work in progress, but we feel it is right to release this version online, to give you an idea of some of the musical 'colours' we are painting in these days.

It is not the way of anathema to go on repeating past successes. It is our intention to take the road less travelled and to push the boundaries of what we are doing with each new chapter in our career. We feel it is our duty to reach out for new ideas and new ways to express those ideas.

The narrative of this song can be seen as a continuation and expansion of the themes expressed on 'everything'. Letting go of the past and moving on is essential in order to live a more fulfilled life, and this song deals directly with this idea.

It seems ironic that this song is developing an idea that a minority of our fans seem to be struggling with. The idea that as in life, we must learn from, and then let go of the past, so Anathema MUST develop and move and grow as a musical expression.

Life is not about what has happened, but about what is going to happen. For this reason it only seems more fitting that this song should be released now.

The evolution continues.

We hope you enjoy this track. It will be played live at all our forthcoming shows and is dedicatated to anyone who seeks a better path in life, whomever they may be.

More songs will be made available at our earliest opportunity.

Thank you for all the support you have shown us, we really do appreciate it.

in love and light...

ANATHEMA.

A SIMPLE MISTAKE

think for yourself you know what you need in this life
see for yourself and feel your soul come alive tonight
here in the moment we share, trembling between the worlds we stare
out at starlight enshrined, veiled like diamonds in..

...time can be the answer, take a chance, lose it all
it's a simple mistake to make to create love and to fall
so rise and be your master you don't need to be a slave
of memory ensnared in a web, in a cage

i have found my way to fly free from the constraints of time
i have soared through the sky seen life far below in mind
breathed in truth, love, serene, sailed on OCEANS OF BELIEF
searched and found life inside, we're not just a moment in time...

....can be the answer, take a chance lose it all
it's a simple mistake to make to create love and to fall
so rise and be your master you don't need to be a slave
of memory ensnared in a web, in a cage

Nice.. song... beautiful,
only one thing I think that i don't like it and is the effect over the voice
( Vincent voice i think) because the Voice is beautiful and with all the effects i can't listen well tongue.
and the song is a anathema style song, the lyric is full of hope, and obviously a break with the past, "we're not just a moment in time" oh please, everything has been said with this line XD

cheers

pain is heard in a guitar played after the lyrics... more like a struggle to breath... anyway..

i feel it's TOO simple and it's 8 minutes long. the rhytm is pretty nice but i don't think the song is any special - maybe it's just first impression, but i believe they can do much better (like they did on all their previous albums). it's not like i don't want them to create this "optimistic" stuff and proceed along new path etc. on the contrary, it's great they go on and progress, but this song simply isn't on the level that anathema have accustomed me to.

anyway, i don't like to comment every single song, not having all picture (which is full album) before my eyes.

paint me a room where i can dream

thats what i say whit the anathema style... sad music, but now hope full words..
strange .

I dont understand what happend, but maybe they can make full happy music wink
and thats is ok, cause if they could, they may be dont be anathema .. (maybe I wrong, but who cares)

I listen it a lot of time.. and if i could erase the voice efects and dont understand the lyric i could say " this is a standard anathema song " anyway, they don't need of a oldest fan like me, whit this more comercial music gone to get news.

pdt: they would do what ever they want, so hope for the full album to see...

Great song. Better than Everything, much better. Simple, yet touching melody line and interesting lyrics. If that's direction Anathema is now heading than I can't wait till next album.

Life is just one damned thing after another.

Interesting contradiction between the plaintive yet encouraging and optimistic lyrics, and the thunderous instrumental that kicks in halfway through. Didn't like the spoken word at the end, thought it was extremely pretentious, and drove the point of the song home far too bluntly.

I love being able to take away whatever meaning, imagery, emotions i want and need from the band's songs, to "think for yourself", but not to be preached at. I will be interested to hear this song live, and will continue to listen to it because it's Anathema, after all.

You got point here. I expect good music from Anathema, but not morality lesson.

it's very beautiful song and i think the nice ryth it gets towards the end is unbelievable 'confusing' and just like i want anathema to sound...
i believe that the spoken word at the end it's a moral lesson to everyone who wants to take it as such...
i personally like it very much!!!!
so that concludes that the song is very nice although the voice of vincent that is unbelievably nice should be heard a bit cleaner.

Another day unfolds...and still..i exist

i've dozens of mistake in my life . this song made me remember my mistakes and with this melody it made  me sad in the middle of the sunny day. i think they not preaching that " there is still hope" . they'r saying " don't lose your hope even it never cames"

i am the jelous tongue, the poison dart ; i am the lost one, anger in your heart...

We realize the design is a little messy in Internet Explorer, but it will change only when new version of Anathemaniacs appears. For now you can switch to one of other web browsers like Mozilla Firefox or Opera (by the way, they both are much better solutions than IE).
